St Munchin’s Family Resource Centre is in the Northside RAPID area of Limerick City and has a long history of providing services to older people including a well-resourced older people’s Department.
There is a wide range of high-quality services and supports through a dedicated team of local workers and volunteers. Services focus upon the well-being of older people and include: meals-on-wheels; friendly-call service; home maintenance and ‘Care and Repair’; transport to appointments, shopping, housekeeping etc., to name but a few.
There is also focus on wider societal issues. For example, an Older Person’s Protection Policy is being developed and the centre also participates in various inter-agency initiatives which strengthen the voice of and improve services to Older People. The heart of the work is building upon Older People’s strengths, supporting them to live their lives as they wish and ensuring their voice is heard, while also giving the practical supports and services.
