Summary:

Townspark, Carrick on Shannon is the location for Breffni Community Development CLG. It is a modern, community based project, the focus of which is to provide relevant family based supports and services in an accessible, professional, confidential, welcoming and comfortable environment. The many supports and services reach a catchment area that includes Leitrim and North Roscommon. The programme includes daytime/evening programmes and activities which include Training & Education, Breffni Childcare, Breffni Youth Café, Over 55’s, Men and Women’s Groups, Saol Nua (support for people with mental health and learning disabilities), Unemployment Programme, Food Distribution, Estate Maintenance, Composting/Allotments/Bee Hive, Residents Meetings, Horticulture/Healthy Eating Projects, Intercultural Women’s Network and more. Recently Breffni Community Development CLG was extended with help of Leitrim Leader Funding to accommodate Breffni Youth Café and a Community Room for training/meeting purposes. Funding for the work of the development comes largely from a very successful community run Golf Classic.

There is also an excellent resource centre from which most of the services are administered. These are major assets to the area.
