Summary
Dominic’s Community Centre is a multi-purpose, community facility serving the needs of the Urban Neighbourhoods of Avonbeg, Bolbrook and the Millbrook Lawns areas of Tallaght. The Centre, established in 1979, relocated to a new purpose built building in 2009. The centre is run by an engaging Voluntary Board of Management which is compliant with the Governance Code and registered with the Charities Regulator. Dominic’s CC has a proven track record in a number of areas including – Community Development and addressing local needs; Area Profiling; Working with external agencies; Working with Tallaght Community Arts; Collaboration with Community Gardai; Provision of youth activities; Consultation re a new Play Space to name but a few. In recent years there have been successful applications to: Capital funding for a Youth Café; South Dublin County Council; Community Growers Fund; National Lottery and Dublin Bus.

This winning entry is a community centre which opened recently and serves the needs of the local population. This centre caters for the inter-generational needs of the area with a strong emphasis on pre-school and after schools programmes and a wide range of activities for its active age groups including computer classes, photography, Mens choir, table quizzes and craft classes etc. The commitment and enthusiasm of the centre staff plus a positive attitude and sense of community and friendship is evident in a professionally managed resource centre.
