Surrounded by broadleaf woodlands, lots of wildlife and walking trails, the lake is stocked with carp, tench, bream & rudd. Oaklands Lake was the brainchild of local resident, Mick Browne, which has been brought to fruition through dedication and commitment. Local businesses, residents and various agencies have all helped to deliver a unique modern five acre fishing facility for all the community.

This picturesque lake is used by a cross section of society ranging across the full socio economic spectrum and age demographic. Great innovation and initiative have brought to bear to turn an unused bog into a fantastic modern fishing facility.

One man’s dream and his refusal to see his plans thwarted. His project is now a very well managed facility that attracts visitors from far and wide. The spin off to the local economy is considerable. The project is unique in Ireland providing an inland course fishing experience in a man-made lake.
