As we find ourselves living in the most extraordinary of times, we would like you to know that we will be postponing the deadline for receipt of entries for the IPB Pride of Place 2020 competition in association with Co-operation Ireland to Tuesday, the 30th of June. We would like to reassure all liaison officers and potential entrants that health and safety is our top priority and we will follow all Government instructions and HSE/NHS guidelines.
We believe that the 2020 IPB Pride of Place competition can be something very special. We have already seen great examples of community spirit and social solidarity across the Island of Ireland, since the outbreak of COVID-19 and we believe that the Pride of Place competition provides an opportunity for communities to share their experience and stories at a time when community spirit needs to be recognised more than ever before. In order to ensure that the competition can continue this year, the Pride of Place website will be altered to facilitate further interaction with liaison officers and community groups. We hope the website will become an interactive space to combat isolation and also an inspiring place where we can uplift each other.
Community groups that enter the IPB Pride of Place 2020 competition will be asked to develop and upload a powerpoint presentation to the POP website and this will replace, for this year only, the judges visit to the community. Further details will be circulated, regarding presentations and judging over the coming weeks.
Finally, Kerry County Council is looking forward to hosting, what is shaping up to be a spectacular 2020 Gala Awards Ceremony on Saturday 21st of November at the wonderful INEC venue in Killarney in what we hope will be a big celebration of community across the island of Ireland.
