Bornacoola is a small vibrant rural parish on the Leitrim/Longford border with a strong sense of community. It is focused around the Bornacoola Community Centre and Bornacoola GAA. Bornacoola Community Development built a community centre 25 years ago to provide a focal point and a much needed facility that is now home to the Active Age Group, the Bornacoola Drama Group, a variety of classes and other groups. Recently the centre was extended with the help of Leitrim Leader funding to provide a purpose built Youth Club (€130,000). Funding for the work of the development association comes largely from the very successful Lough Rynn Harvest Festival and Vintage Day which is now in its 23rd year. Almost everybody is involved in making this a great community event. The funds raised allows the Development Association to sponsor the Youth Club, GAA and other groups as well as maintaining the community centre and other parish public areas e.g. local cemetery -Cloonmorris.

The following list may be of assistance:

A digital camera or good quality phone camera can be used.
Please do not resize the original photos when sending in.
Please make sure that date and time stamps are NOT on the image.
Outdoor group shots are less problematic (no glare from separate light sources etc.)
Think of your lighting – in strong sunlight try to keep your back to the sun, but avoid having your group squint at you, so off-set your angle.
Keep everyone looking in your direction.
No photos please of people with backs to the camera.
Be careful about the background – try not to have a lamp post growing from someone’s head etc
An image to be reproduced at any size print ready should be supplied at a minimum 1748px x 1240px
If the camera doesn’t show a pixel range, images should be taken as an HDR or the maximum setting the camera allows.
When sending photographs by email please put the entry name/ location in the subject title and do NOT resize the photo.
Please ensure the photograph is landscape in orientation rather then portrait.
