Summary:

Leitrim’s tiny coastline at Tullaghan, is sandwiched between Counties Sligo and Donegal. Tullaghan Development Association constantly strives to enhance the community. It organises the Tidy Towns. It runs Tullaghan Community Centre with its plays and events and caters for a card group, vintage car club, Mens/Ladies/Childrens Boxing club, Fitness Club, Motor Bike club, Playgroup, Tennis Club and Historical Society. It hosts courses in art, seaweed, yoga, pilates and woodwork and computer classes starting in 2021. Tullaghan experienced a community resurgence in 2018 coinciding with their first entry into Pride of Place. Since then Tullaghan has gone on to win the Endeavour award for Tidy Towns Leitrim, won a Love Where You Live Leitrim award and also gained Wild Atlantic Way status. They launched the website www.Tullaghan.com and have a very active social media presence. In 2020 a new recreational park was built in Tullaghan. Along with new footpaths and resurfaced roads, Tullaghan has emerged a proud and resilient community.

This is a small coastal village with a big heart. The community centre is an accessible hub where people of all ages, interests and abilities have come together – all sectors are catered for and a vibrant voluntary effort is key to its success. Furthermore an excellent presentation convinced the judges of the commitment and passion of the group.
