Third AgeThird Age is a voluntary organisation which looks to promote the value of older people in the communities throughout Ireland. Currently, Third Age gives employment to twenty three people. It has grown over the past twenty four years from a cottage industry to a small to medium enterprise. In addition, Third Age has over 1,000 mainly older volunteers working nationally as listeners, nutritionists, tutors, advocates, befrienders and more.

At the local level, Third Age is a membership organisation with a vibrant programme of activities, services and programmes for members who are drawn from a wide catchment area. Everything that Third Age does is underpinned by principles of social inclusion and empowerment.

The aim is to encourage the active engagement of older people – local and national, thereby modelling a community where older people are valued, remain in the mainstream of life and enjoy good and effective relationships across the generations.
